Horrible Herman-Joe Maneely-1952

One of the great stylists of 1950s comics art, it's always a pleasure to share some Joe Maneely art. I know he did a little work on CRACKED and a few of the other satire mags but he always looked as though he would have fit right in with the Usual Gang of Idiots over at MAD had he not been so ill-fated.

Oh noes! He forgot that there's no gravity in space!

I don't know where kids are mis-learning their science these days, but into the '70s it was in large part from comic books. (I s'pose that television is still doing it's part.)

I'm sure that you're right that Maneely's style could have been a good fit for Mad.

Back then, "there's no gravity in space" was something you said because you were ign'r'nt. These days, it's something you Tweet to try to shout down anyone with an education beyond fifth grade.

A lot of people believe that there is some accumulation of arguments that aren't quite right that makes them equivalent to a set that are. Ray Comfort says many thing that aren't true, but believes that he's said enough of them that he's made a great case. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
